The Hedgerows
Nom Kinnear King is originally from the Norfolk countryside and studied Fine Art at Norwich School of Art and Design, going on to be based in Melbourne, Brighton, London and Varese Italy over the years.
Nom now paints from her Studio back in the flatlands of Norfolk in the fine City of Norwich, gathering inspiration from found objects and her surroundings.
Working in oils and pastels mainly to create imaginary female portraits, we are delighted to present a rare opportunity to own one of her delightful graphite and watercolour drawings that are so popular when they manifest.
The subjects are girls who roam from town to town in a patchworked old fashioned never world, where rusty melodies trail their steps, their curious behaviour shadowed by sweet melancholy.
Influenced from a young age by her father’s love of the impressionists, magical realism in literature, film and folklore from around the world, Nom has been filling her notebooks throughout the years with her solitary wanderers.
This new collection "The Hedgerows" brings her girls out into the countryside to forage and frolic in the hedgerows, those wild liminal spaces between the ordered fields which are teeming with life and the medicine of nature for this season.
We hope you enjoy this magical new series and pick some for yourself.
