Annette Hassell grew up in the wonderful city of New Orleans before settling in her current location of Los Angeles. As a child she absorbed everything fantasy and fairy tale and her art heroes were Rackham, Detmold, Dulac, Nielsen, and Tenniel .
Annette attended the University of New Orleans, where she fell in love with painting and in 1986 she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree.
In between devoping her rich narrative style for many years, which is immersed in the natural world and all it's wonderful inhabitants, Annette has worked as a scenic artist for theater, television and film in Los Angeles. A fantastical sense of drama and whimsical humour is often observed in her works where there is always a story being told and a drama unfolding. We are delighted to welcome Annette to the gallery once more with her specially created new series of animal works. We think they pull you into the world from an animal perspective, enchanting and warm without being sentimental.
