Maiden of the springs and lochs
Mother creatrix and guardian of the herd
Bringer of the bright wheat
Great weather witch of winter and blue hag of the hills
I come from the North, Cailleach
Spirit of all these lands and watcher of the winds
Most ancient, most revered
Carver of the rivers, talons and rust red tooth
Dreamer of the moon with crack of ice and breath of snow
I come from the North, Cailleach
I gave my name to all souls and seasons
The maiden sleeping sound on the hill, the mothers apron heavy with stone and the all seeing crone
Call me old woman all you like but I am Cailleach and my name was whispered o’er these lands by the gales and tides before it landed on the tongues of men
Come take a walk in my worlds, I bid you well.
