This classical labyrinth symbol is over 4,000 years old.
When laid out on the ground (like a maze) it can be used as a walking meditation to find answers to questions, problem solve, pray etc.
Drawing it using sea inspired patterns brings two of my wellbeing practices together – wild swimming, and the labyrinth, both of which help me to connect with my own inner wisdom.
The title comes from the process of its creation and the mindfulness I engaged with whilst drawing.
There are inherent imperfections in the repeated replication of a hand-drawn pattern and whilst I did at times get frustrated with not being as precise as I might have liked, I reminded myself that nature is full of organic shapes, not perfection.
In the end I felt that any ‘mistakes’ made the drawing more authentic – and more reflective of what it is that makes us human.
