“Lion” is a sculptural mask inspired by the zoomorphic knotwork found in the Book of Kells.
Made from a gourd, the mask is sculpted and painted with motifs from the iconic illustrations.
The lion is a symbol of power and life, and often associated with the sun – a solstice spirit, or a guardian to hang on a wall.
