The Kelpie Of Loch Ness
by Michaela Sagatova

A Kelpie is a purely malevolent shape-shifting water spirit inhabiting the lochs and pools of Scotland. It appears in one of its more appealing forms, a beautiful horse, luring children to the shore. Once physical contact is made the victim becomes fused to the creature and is dragged to the bottom to drown or be devoured. My design is inspired by the Kelpie of Loch Ness, an early 19th century Kelpie that haunted the woods and shore. Some believed that it was the Loch Ness monster.
