The Seer’s Prophecy
Clare-Louise Battersby – Scotland
Medium: Mixed Media on A3 Board: pencils, fine-liners, watercolours, alcohol markers, gouache and acrylic pens.
Art Size: 297 x 420 mm (unframed)
A homage to the artist’s enduring love for sword and sorcery fiction, 80s fantasy films, nature and the divination tools she uses in her own craft.
There are multitudinal stories here waiting for you.
What will the Seer find at The Lightning Tree?
Will the mercurial black dragon be friend or foe?
Can she work with the shadows to reveal what is hidden?
Will the crystal staff light her way and blind her enemies?
If she can get to The Spire, will the scrying pool provide her with the next task?
Should she be injured on this perilous journey, will the magical healing properties of the unicorn’s horn be freely offered, and will he carry her if needed?
If she takes the path to The Other Realm, will she be able to return and with what knowledge?
Will the end of her trials bring her awakening, abundance and joy?
Or is this not about The Seer at all and The Seer is actually showing you the path before you? The choices and interpretations you make are your own. The only limits are your will and imagination.
N.B. Her familiar Pythia the death’s-head moth can carry whispers on the wind.
*N.B. Nostradamus the frog would like you to know he is not a familiar or thrall to anyone, but he can be helpful if you ask him very politely. If he is required to travel, he will need detailed maps of local ponds and lochs, as well as the best spots for fly-catching. Sibyl the owl is a deal breaker.
The Seer’s Prophecy is a mixed media artwork on A3 1.4mm board (297 x 420 mm) unframed. Filled with tiny details and colour shifting paints on some elements, the more you look, the more you see.
